I am not missing. I've been busy making a quilt for the cat. He loves it.
Yesterday was Cricut Sunday and I've progressed from card stock to permanent vinyl, to iron-on vinyl to fabric. I was nervous about fabric but I learned a lot.
I had spent a considerable amount of time taking the pattern pieces and converting them to a file that the Cricut would cut. I watched numerous videos and it finally clicked. I sized them using a 1" box and hoped all was well. It was as they were very, very close to the pattern pieces.
I cut the shoe uppers and insoles from two 4.5 x 12" scraps of fabric. It was all I had so I spent quite a bit of time making sure I had it right.
It was time to sew them together. I spent a lot of time assembling them which I am glad I did. I marked the center of the chipboard insoles and the center front of the upper shoe. I trimmed and snipped and put them together.
Once the glue was dry enough, I glued on the foam soles and left them overnight. I touched the center front of the one shoe to get rid of the blue mark. I then tried them on Julia.
I really like how they match the skirt I had made and that the two pieces go well with the sweater and hat.
And close up pictures of the shoes. I did use black soles on these shoes. One shoe is a smidge bigger than the other one which is confusing me. The shoes are identical and I wonder if Julie has one foot that is slightly smaller than the other one.I will be cutting out more shoes on the Cricut and hope to buy a pattern for historical shoes and give that a try.
