Kit is one of my favorite dolls. I knew nothing of her story so that wasn't the attraction. It was her short hair cut and freckles that stole my heart. Her story is interesting and I would love to read other books on her. Though the depression was a tough time for people, you can still see what children wore during that time.
When I started to make a wardrobe for Kit, I chose the wrong era. Her era is the 1930's and the wardrobe I made is the 1950's. I didn't do my research on this outfit. But not all is lost as I gave the wardrobe to a little girl I love sewing doll clothes for.
I have made one summer outfit for Kit. It is the 1930's Playsuit that Kit would have worn it on those hot summer days. I chose green fabric as I liked the fabric. Back in the 1930's this would have cost $.49. I may have to make this one again with the straight legs in a different pattern.
I will have to slowly start sewing more clothes for Kit. I have the Classy Yoke Coat and Tam as shown below. The picture is from Pixie Faire. I would like to make it in navy with a print scarf, trim and tam.
There are two dresses that I can make; The 1930's Frock and the Bodice Detail's Dress. I have the collars pattern that I tested but it has never been published. There are 7 collars for the 1930's Frock. All are Keepers Dolly Duds patterns.
Coming from the same designer is the Librarian and a coordinating dress and jacket. Both are 1930's era and I will test them.
I also have the 1930's Sleuth Pattern from Luminaria. It is a jacket, skirt, top, and hat. I also have the Train Station by Keepers Dolly Duds that is more girl like than teen so I am torn on which one to make.
As I make the outfits, I will take out the ideas and replace them with the outfits.
